MARTA’s On-Demand Service to Offer First-Mile, Last-Mile Solution

3/10/2026

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will be bringing its services on-demand through the launch of its new MARTA Reach program. The app-based service will provide on-demand shared rides throughout 12 zones in the Atlanta, GA, metropolitan area.

The program is a part of MARTA’s larger NextGen Bus Network project, the largest redesign of the agency’s transit network since the 1970s. The NextGen Bus Network aims to optimize routing, triple the number of bus corridors, create more access to bus transit, and generate more job opportunities.

Riders can access MARTA Reach through the app or a phone line. The on-demand shared rides will operate 18 hours a day, seven days a week, offering a 30-minute pickup window. Vehicles come equipped with two wheelchair slots and are fully ADA accessible.

MARTA’s Interim General Manager and CEO Johnathan Hunt said, “MARTA Reach represents a fundamental shift in how we serve our communities. By integrating on-demand technology into our NextGen Bus Network, we are providing a ‘first-mile, last-mile’ solution that makes transit more accessible, efficient, and more personal for our customers.”

The MARTA Reach program is determined to connect the Atlanta metro area together, creating a larger community through transit.
