Share Research Insights at the 2025 Research to Practice Transit Symposium

10/8/2025

The virtual 6th annual Research to Practice Transit Symposium, Oct. 28-30, will provide a platform where public transit experts can share insights into how evidence-based research is being, or can be, used to take advantage of monumental transit and rail investment and new technological opportunities in a dynamic environment.

The symposium is convened by a partnership between APTA, California DOT (Caltrans), University of Florida Transportation Institute, UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies, the Mineta Transportation Institute, and the Safety and Mobility Advancements Regional Transportation and Economics Research (SMARTER) Center at Morgan State.

This year’s symposium will focus on:

  • AI in Transit
  • High-speed Rail
  • Rural Transit
  • Federal Transit Innovations
  • Intercity Bus Networks
  • Microtransit and Paratransit State of Practice
  • Transit Performance Metrics
  • And More

In addition to the opening and closing plenaries, the symposium features two types of sessions:

  • Researcher + Practitioner Sessions, where researchers and practitioners will jointly present a research project that addresses a practical issue important to a transit agency, metropolitan planning organization, or DOT.
  • Regular Sessions, where traditional presentations where an individual presenter shares transit-related research.

AICP credits will be available for this event.

There is no cost to register for the symposium. For questions, contact Chad Riding, Caltrans division of planning and modal program management, 916-907-2212, chad.riding@dot.ca.gov; and Dr. Xiang ‘Jacob’ Yan, assistant professor & UFTI transit lead, Department of Civil & Coastal Engineering, xiangyan@ufl.edu.
