CDTA Welcomes FTA Administrator Marcus Molinaro
8/19/2025

The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA), Albany, NY, welcomed FTA Administrator Marcus Molinaro Aug. 18 at its headquarters. CDTA is Molinaro’s first public transit agency visit in New York since he was appointed Administrator in August.
“We were honored to welcome FTA Administrator Molinaro to Albany and showcase the work we’re doing to improve mobility across the Capital Region,” said CDTA CEO Frank Annicaro. “His visit highlights the critical role federal support plays in strengthening public transit and investing in our communities. On behalf of CDTA, I want to sincerely thank Administrator Molinaro for his time, leadership, and continued partnership.”
Molinaro discussed FTA’s priorities, took part in a tour of the expanded Albany bus garage, and rode on CDTA’s Purple Line BRT route.
CDTA’s Albany Garage underwent a 25,000 square foot expansion in 2022 to accommodate a growing network of services and associated fleet. The expanded garage includes three new in-ground articulated maintenance lifts and the installation of two new bus washes. The project was completed with competitive grant money from FTA.
The Purple Line is CDTA’s third BRT line, which connects downtown Albany with a variety of locations within the city, including Crossgates Mall and the University of Albany’s Uptown and Downtown campuses. Additionally, the Purple Line connects to the Red and Blue Lines. The service was launched in November of 2023 and was funded by competitive grant money from FTA.
