GoTriangle Cuts Ribbon on Raleigh Union Bus Station

7/30/2025

GoTriangle hosted a ribbon-cutting recently for its new Raleigh Union Bus Station. Located in Downtown Raleigh’s Warehouse District beside the Raleigh Union Train Station, RUS Bus, as the new station is referred to, will serve the ever-growing Triangle region as a new hub for the agency.

“This event will be a day to celebrate not just the ribbon cutting of our new transportation center, but also to honor the greater Triangle community and what we can achieve through effective partnerships,” said GoTriangle President/CEO Brian Smith. “Raleigh Union Bus Station will mean improved, more efficient public transportation in our region, which is a benefit for us all. We can’t wait to celebrate this special occasion with the larger community.”

RUS Bus features include:

  • Off-street bus facility with six bays for passengers and two layover bays; waiting areas; public toilets; bike parking and bike racks and lockers; and access to the train station.
  • Accommodation for the future GoRaleigh BRT station.
  • Roadway improvements, including sidewalk and crosswalk improvements and more.
  • New traffic signals at intersections.
  • Pedestrian and bicycle enhancements.
  • GoTriangle bus service improvements.

RUS Bus is part of a larger, public-private mixed-use development bringing connectivity and housing to the city. Hoffman & Associates is leading the private portion of the development, which is slated to include retail and restaurant offerings in addition to multifamily residential on the same site as RUS Bus.
