WMATA CEO Clarke Is Keynote Speaker at APTA’s Workforce Summit

8/8/2024

Randy Clarke, general manager and CEO, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), will be the keynote speaker at APTA’s inaugural Workforce Summit, Aug. 21-23, in Washington, DC.

Before joining WMATA, Clarke served more than four years as president and CEO of the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority in Austin, TX, where he helped secure one of the largest voter-approved transit referendums in U.S. history. The initiative, Project Connect, resulted in a multi-billion-dollar infusion for the agency’s capital program.

Prior to his work in Austin, Clarke held key public transportation leadership positions across the U.S. He served as APTA’s vice president of operations and member services from 2016-2018.

APTA’s Workforce Summit offers an opportunity to exchange ideas and best practices for recruiting, reskilling, and retaining the public transit workforce. Guest speakers, subject matter experts, and CEOs will discuss new strategies, tools, and partnerships, and lessons learned. A Workforce Innovation Showcase will feature a wealth of products, services, and organizations that support workforce development.
