Veronica Vanterpool to Address APTA Legislative Conference

FTA Acting Administrator Veronica Vanterpool will address APTA’s Legislative Conference, April 7-9 in Washington, DC. She will discuss how FTA is advancing the goals of the Biden-Harris Administration in regard to safety, innovation, workforce development, climate, equity, and more.

Vanterpool has 17 years of experience in advocacy, policy, media communications, public outreach, coalition building, and issue campaigns. She became FTA acting administrator Feb. 24, following the departure of Nuria Fernandez. Before that, she served as deputy administrator for one year and nine months, having joined FTA as a senior advisor in 2021.

Vanterpool came to FTA from the Delaware Transit Corporation, where she served as the agency’s first chief innovation officer. Before that, she was deputy director of the national Vision Zero Network, executive director of the New York City based Tri-State Transportation Campaign, and a board member of New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority. She is co-founder and former president of the Delaware Chapter of WTS, a member of Latinos in Transit, and a 2023 Awardee of COMTO’s Women Who Move the Nation.
