Senate Panel Unanimously Advances Rep. Duffy to Head US DOT
1/23/2025
A Senate panel unanimously advanced President Trump’s nominee to run the US DOT, former Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI), on Jan. 22. Duffy, a former five-term Republican congressman, was advanced out of committee with a 28-0 vote during a Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee hearing.
The panel’s ranking member, Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA), said that in meetings with Duffy since last week’s confirmation hearing she has had an “opportunity to talk about the many things that are important, not just to my state, but to the nation on [building] a strong and resilient transportation network that allows us to compete in a global economy.”
The Senate may consider Duffy’s nomination next week.
