Mentors Open Doors: January Is National Mentoring Month!

1/16/2025

APTA, the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO), and Latinos In Transit (LIT) have joined forces to share resources and information for National Mentoring Month (January). Take a courtside seat to hear from Flora Castillio, April Rai, and Christina Villarreal in a new interview on APTA’s official podcast, The Transit Authority, to learn about how associations can help organizations to retain and develop the workforce.

APTA’s National Mentoring Month podcast series features leaders, mentors, and mentees across the U.S. and Canada. This episode’s guests all agree that mentors help to open doors and assist mentees in navigating the changing expectations and skills required to succeed in the industry. Organizations can retain staff by investing in workforce programs such as mentoring.

If your organization is ready to launch a program, Latinos In Transit has a guide available for you to take the first steps, COMTO has a proven model you can follow, and APTA provides the path for the next generation of leaders to gain access to national mentors in its Emerging Leaders Program.

APTA would also like to feature your organization’s workforce strategy success. Contact driddy@apta.com and workforce@apta.com to share your recruitment, reskilling, and retention journey.
