DHS Issues Transit Security Grant Program NOFO

4/16/2024

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) of $83,700,000 for its FY24 Transit Security Grant Program (TSGP), one of four grant programs that constitute DHS/FEMA’s focus on transportation infrastructure security activities.

The TSGP provides funds to public transit agencies to protect critical surface transportation infrastructure and the traveling public from acts of terrorism. Examples of recent TSGP accomplishments include jurisdictions increasing their mass notifications and critical incident management systems to quickly and effectively send emergency alerts and share critical information through multiple channels. Other examples include organizations providing surge support (law enforcement personnel) for special events (e.g., Super Bowl, concerts) as well as tunnel hardening.

For FY24, DHS is focused on the criticality of information sharing and collaboration to building a national culture of preparedness and protecting against terrorism and other threats to national security. Priority areas are enhancing cybersecurity and enhancing the protection of soft targets/crowded places.
