Cincinnati Metro Unveils Upcoming BRT System

Cincinnati Metro introduces Metro Rapid, its new BRT system, set to launch in late 2027 on Reading Rd. & 2028 on Hamilton Ave. The agency engaged in a multi-year process of community input on corridor locations, station design, and infrastructure.

“Community engagement has been at the heart of this project from the start,” said Brandy Jones, Metro’s chief communications and marketing officer. “From identifying the Hamilton Avenue and Reading Road corridors in 2023 to selecting station designs in 2024, and now naming the system, we have made public input a priority at every stage.”

Metro will conduct extensive testing on a range of BRT bus models, including electric and diesel-powered vehicles to assess performance and reliability in Cincinnati’s climate and terrain.
