APTA, JITTI to Host Rail Symposium
2/29/2024
APTA and the Japan International Transport and Tourism Institute (JITTI) are hosting a Rail Symposium: Value Creation for a Sustainable Society, April 11, 3:00-6:00 p.m. Eastern at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC.
Demand for passenger rail has not returned to pre-pandemic levels in view of a diversification of work styles, including an increase in remote work. The symposium aims to present how the value of passenger rail (high speed, intercity, commuter, heavy, and light rail) is being articulated in both the U.S. and Japan, reaffirming the critical role of rail in enhancing urban vitality and resilience.
Attendees will hear from top rail leaders from the U.S. and Japan and engage with two dynamic panels focusing on The Economic Value That Passenger Rail Brings by Connecting Cities, and Enhancing Urban Attractiveness and Resilience. A reception follows the symposium.
