APTA honors the legacy of former Rep. William J. Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ), a champion of public transportation and dedicated public servant, who died Aug. 21.
“We mourn the passing of William J. Pascrell, Jr., a distinguished New Jersey politician who served with passion and integrity in the U.S. House of Representatives for 28 years. He was a relentless advocate for public transportation, championing infrastructure projects, and securing essential funding for New Jersey Transit and the public transportation industry,” said APTA President and CEO Paul P. Skoutelas. “His commitment to improving public transportation was evident through his early work on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, where he fought to enhance mobility for all Americans, and later his work on the powerful Committee on Ways and Means.
“Rep. Pascrell’s contributions have left an indelible mark on the transportation landscape, and we at APTA honor his legacy. As we continue our mission, we draw inspiration from leaders like him, who understood the critical role that public transportation plays in building stronger, more connected communities.”
