APTA Holds Legal Affairs Seminar in New Orleans
2/13/2024
Public transit legal practitioners from across the U.S. gathered in New Orleans this week for APTA’s Legal Affairs Seminar. With a record attendance of 155 attorneys and legal professionals, the seminar was the ideal platform to discuss the latest legal issues facing the industry, including governance, equity, IIJA implementation, AI, and compliance issues and strategies.
Attendees were treated to a keynote address from APTA Chair Michele Wong Krause, who emphasized the need to continue telling public transportation’s stories to make the most compelling case for transit investment. The seminar also included sessions addressing recent court cases.
FRA Administrator Amit Bose, FRA Chief Counsel Allison Ishihara Fultz, and FTA Deputy Chief Counsel Dana Nifosi presented the Administration’s priorities, including funding and regulations. The APTA Legal Affairs Committee, chaired by Bill Moseley, principal at Jackson Lewis, will begin planning next year’s seminar later this year, which will be held in Phoenix, AZ.
