Andy Byford Is APTA Workforce Summit Keynote Speaker!

It’s Workforce Wednesday and APTA announces that Andy Byford, senior vice president, Amtrak, is the keynote speaker of the Aug. 22 opening session of APTA’s inaugural Workforce Summit, Aug. 21-23 in Washington, DC.

Byford’s 35-year transit career has spanned three continents. He joined London Underground in 1989 as a uniformed station foreman and has gone on to lead the largest transit systems in the U.K., the U.S., and Canada, as well as running day-to-day operations on Australia’s busiest network. This has given him a rare global perspective of transport operations, finances, and politics.

At the Workforce Summit, attendees will exchange ideas and best practices and learn about successful strategies for recruiting, reskilling, and retaining the public transit workforce. The Workforce Innovation Showcase will spotlight innovative products, services, and organizations that support workforce development.
