Christopher Durand Named RIPTA Chief Executive Officer

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) has named Christopher Durand as chief executive officer. He has been serving as interim chief executive officer since April 16, 2024.

Durand returned to RIPTA in 2018 as director of finance and budget, becoming executive director of finance and budget in 2020 and chief financial officer in 2021. Prior to that, he was a senior financial analyst with the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank. Before the bank, he was with RIPTA for three years, serving as budget analyst and senior financial analyst.

For APTA, Durand is a member of the Rail Transit; Zero Emission Fleet; Legislative; Innovative Funding, Finance, and P3; and Workforce Development committees, among others.
